The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E gets up to 480 net horsepower and 634 pound-feet of peak torque from an electric powertrain. Such impressive numbers are assigned to the exclusive GT Performance Edition. When equipped with the Extended Range battery that stores up to 88 kWh, the California Route 1 model offers a driving range of up to 305 miles on the highway. When properly configured, the GT model accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Likewise, the 2021 Tesla Model Y is capable of achieving such fast acceleration on a paved surface. When equipped with the standard long-range battery, this Tesla model offers a 303-mile maximum driving range. Weighing slightly more than 4,400 pounds, the Model Y is engineered to reach a top track speed of 155 mph. Both electric SUVs come with 8-year warranties on their batteries.
Measuring 15.5 inches wide, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E has the largest infotainment display on Ford’s extensive lineup. Powered by the all-new SYNC 4A technology, the next-generation multimedia center includes the Enhanced Voice Recognition for easy interactions with the digital suite. You’ll also have access to the Connected Navigation platform that delivers precise guidance with turn-by-turn directions and high-resolution maps. By contrast, the 2021 Tesla Model Y’s multimedia console comes with a touch screen that measures 15 inches diagonally. However, the infotainment suite has a highly responsive interface with digital concierges and state-of-the-art voice recognition. Standard on the 2021 Mustang Mach-E, the FordPass Connect delivers Wi-Fi and other premium connectivity features. Both electric SUVs are fully compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. Made by Bang & Olufsen, the Mach-E’s sound system plays songs on SiriusXM Satellite Radio 360L. You won’t see any signature branding on the Model Y’s audio system. Nevertheless, this Tesla model boasts two docking stations for smartphones. A wireless charging pad and several USB ports are installed inside the Ford model.
Equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 suite, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E fully qualifies for the Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Intelligent Cruise Control is a standard technology from the next-generation safety bundle. Some major improvements to the ICC include the Lane Centering and Speed Recognition functions. You’ll also get the Intersection Assist, and Evasive Steering Assist on this all-new Ford SUV. With an upgrade to the Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 suite, you’ll get access to the Active Park Assist 2.0 and BlueCruise technologies. Despite having a dozen ultrasonic sensors that scan the surroundings, the 2021 Tesla Model Y doesn’t offer as many active safety features as the Ford vehicle.
