Running on a twin-turbo engine from the EcoBoost family, the 2021 Ford Expedition is more powerful than the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. Both full-size SUVs have leather-appointed seats with climate control, but the Ford model offers better ergonomics with Multi-Contour seating.
2021 Ford Expedition
$50,595 – $76,375*
Horsepower, 3.5-Liter V-6 Engine
2021 Chevrolet Tahoe
$51,295 – $74,395
Horsepower, 5.3-Liter V8 Engine
The 2021 Ford Expedition harnesses 400 total horsepower from a 3.5-liter engine block that includes two turbochargers. Wearing the legendary EcoBoost badge, the V-6 engine burns fuel through direct injection. This signature turbo powerhouse churns out 480 pound-feet of peak torque. Using natural aspiration, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe’s 5.3-L engine can’t produce more than 355 hp. This V-8 powertrain has a peak torque rating of only 383 lb-ft. Even when equipped with the 6.2-L V-8 engine, this large Chevy SUV doesn’t get more than 460 lb-ft. Both gasoline engines have the EcoTec3 technology for enhanced efficiency on the road. Additionally, the optional 3.0-L EcoDiesel engine doesn’t beat the EcoBoost engine’s peak torque output. Both full-size SUVs run on an automatic transmission system that creates a total of 10 gear speeds. These powerful vehicles offer the Tow/Haul Mode and various other trailering technologies for extra utility and peace of mind. When configured with the Max Trailering Package, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe can successfully tow an 8,400-pound trailer. If you add the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package to the 2021 Expedition, you could tow up to 9,300 pounds. This premium SUV also offers the Pro Trailer Backup Assist, traditionally reserved for Ford pickup trucks. Rolling on the Intelligent 4×4 drive system with the Terrain Management System, this robust Ford model guarantees class-leading handling on rough surfaces. Even when equipped with a 4WD system and the Autotrac transfer case, the Chevy Tahoe doesn’t quite match the Expedition’s superb off-road capabilities.
Featuring two separate panels, the Panoramic Vista Roof is available for the 2021 Ford Expedition. This full-size Ford SUV also boasts climate-controlled seats in the first and second rows. The driver and front occupant could enjoy spa-like treatments from the proprietary Multicontour seats. You may manage the settings of the Active Motion on the infotainment display. An ambient lighting system and heated steering wheel are some other upscale amenities inside this spacious Ford SUV. Just like the 2021 Chevy Tahoe, the Expedition has a tri-zone automatic climate control system.
Powered by the SYNC 3 technology, the 2021 Expedition’s infotainment center has a high-resolution touch screen with split views. The FordPass Connect Wi-Fi modem sends signals to up to 10 devices that are within 50 feet. If you want to keep the family entertained during trips, get the Dual-Headrest Rear Entertainment System. Multiple USB ports, a wireless charging tray, and a 110-volt AC outlet provide lots of convenient options for powering electronics inside the cabin. The 2021 Chevy Tahoe offers various options through the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System when it comes to connectivity. Most of the security and mobile apps in this model are powered by OnStar. Made by Bose, the Tahoe’s most advanced audio system only has ten speakers. You could get a dozen speakers from Bang & Olufsen for the Ford model.
