Horsepower, 2.0-L EcoBoost® I-4 Engine
2021 Chevrolet Equinox
$26,995 – $33,795
Horsepower, 1.5-Liter 4-Cylinder Engine
Boasting a 250-hp rating using premium fuel, the 2021 Ford Edge’s standard 2.0-L EcoBoost engine has a turbocharger with twin scrolls. Composed of cast aluminum, the lightweight I-4 engine bursts out 280 lb-ft of peak torque. Fitted with a single turbocharger, the 2021 Chevy Equinox’s default 1.5-L engine has a maximum output of only 170 hp. This four-cylinder powertrain barely exceeds the 200-lb-ft mark. The 2021 Edge ST model runs on the 2.7-L EcoBoost engine that kicks out 335 total hp. Twin turbochargers are incorporated into this V-6 engine, which unleashes 380 lb-ft when working at 3,250 RPM. The high-performance, six-cylinder propulsion system unites with an automatic transmission system that makes seven gear speeds. You’ll get an additional gear ratio on the automatic gearbox that’s synced with the 2.0-L engine. The track-style Active Warm-Up technology enhances the standard auto transmission on this compact Ford crossover SUV. You can manage the gear combinations through an ergonomic dial. By contrast, the Equinox runs on only six gear speeds that are controlled by a traditional lever. However, this Chevy model offers an all-wheel-drive system that compensates for losing traction in some of the wheels. Likewise, the Edge offers the Intelligent AWD that’s boosted by the Torque Vectoring Control.
Making a grand debut inside the 2021 Ford Edge, a 12.1-inch display delivers an elevated level of sophistication. Standing vertically in the center stack for optimum visibility, the SYNC 4A touch screen is easy to browse with gentle swipes, pinches, and taps. The FordPass Connect and other cloud-hosted applications are readily accessible from the all-new multimedia suite. You’ll be more productive behind the wheel of this compact crossover SUV, thanks to assistance from Ford+Alexa. In clear contrast, the 2021 Equinox’s largest touch screen measures only 8.0 inches diagonally. However, both crossover SUVs offer 4G Wi-Fi and smartphone connections via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Carrying the Bose label, seven speakers are optional for this Chevy model. Created by the renowned Bang & Olufsen brand, a dozen speakers are available for the Ford model.
Delivering next-generation safety technology, the Ford Co-Pilot360 bundle is smoothly incorporated into the 2021 Ford Edge. You’ll get plenty of peace of mind on the road thanks to the Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping System, and several other accident-prevention features. Likewise, the 2021 Chevy Equinox has multiple crash-prevention technologies from the Chevy Safety Assist. However, this Chevy model doesn’t have anything to match the Edge’s Enhanced Active Park Assist and Front 180-Degree Camera.
