Available in more than ten trims, the 2021 Ford Super Duty fills the heavy-duty niche. Having a six-model lineup, the 2021 Ford F-150 is built for the light-duty segment. Both pickup trucks offer full-size cabins, a 4×4 drive, and many utilities.
The 2021 Ford Super Duty packs a 7.3L V8 engine that generates 430 horsepower. Fitted with the OHC valvetrain, this normally aspirated power plant cranks out 475 pound-feet of torque. Having valves with the SOHC configuration, the 6.2L V8 engine delivers 385 hp and 430 lb-ft. Engineered to burn regular unleaded gasoline, both eight-cylinder engines are connected to the Oil Life Monitor. Burning diesel, the 6.7L Power Stroke engine unleashes an unrivaled torque output of 1,050 lb-ft. Linked to the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor, this turbocharged V8 powertrain also works with B20 fuel. The updated 2021 Super Duty is strong enough to tow a gooseneck trailer that’s loaded with up to 37,000 pounds. For a light-duty pickup truck, the 2021 Ford F-150 has a superb towing capacity of 14,000 pounds. Generating 430 hp, the 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid system is the most powerful option under the hood of this model. Employing a 48-volt electrical system, this all-new powertrain also delivers 570 lb-ft of peak torque.
Carrying the TorqShift badge, a six-speed automatic transmission drives the 2021 Ford Super Duty models that are part of the F-250 and F-350 nameplates. Also running on the TorqShift technology, a 10-speed gearbox is available for this heavy-duty Ford pickup truck. Creating ten different shifting points, an automatic transmission is standard on the 2021 Ford F-150. All three transmission systems are backed up by the SelectShift mechanism for smooth changes in gears. As expected, a rear-wheel-drive is available for both Ford pickup trucks. If you demand better traction, choose a 4×4 drive for either model. The Tow-Haul Mode maximizes the trailer load and payload of both vehicles.
Additionally, the Super Duty can run on several Selectable Drive Modes settings. Off-road performance is enhanced by the Deep Sand/Snow Mode, and winter driving is facilitated by the Slippery Mode. Featuring the Mobile Mode, the Live-Drive Power Takeoff connects this powerful Ford model with a plow, compressor, water pump, or other external equipment types.
Mounted on the 2021 Ford Super Duty’s overhead console, several up fitter switches make it easy to manage external accessories, such as strobe lights and winches. A factory-installed up fitter module gives you plenty of options for customizing the capabilities of this heavy-duty pickup truck. Illuminated by LED lights, the patented BoxLink is installed on the vehicle’s durable bed, made of aluminum alloy with military-grade composition. The 2021 Ford F-150 also flaunts several exclusive exterior amenities, like the Pro Power OnBoard. This all-new system generates three different electrical outputs. Additionally, this light-duty Ford pickup truck has the Tailgate Work Surface with a retractable step.
