Performance Features

Engineered to produce up to 270 hp, a 2.3-liter engine block propels the 2021 Ford Ranger. Cranking out 310 lb-ft of torque, this I-4 engine employs a single turbocharger with a twin-scroll configuration. Incorporating the well-proven EcoBoost technology, the turbo powerplant offers a combined fuel economy of up to 23 MPG. In dramatic contrast, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma’s 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine isn’t capable of generating more than 159 hp and 180 lb-ft. However, this Toyota pickup truck offers a 3.5-liter, six-cylinder engine that cranks out 265 lb-ft. Controlled by the Atkinson cycle, the V-6 powertrain peaks at 278 hp. The 2021 Tacoma offers a maximum towing rating of 6,800 pounds when enhanced by the optional Tow Package. Fitted with the Trailer Sway Control, the 2021 Ranger beats this towing capacity by up to 700 pounds. Ball-mounting provisions are installed on the vehicle’s rear bumper.

Durability Features

Carrying the Built Ford Tough badge, the 2021 Ford Ranger successfully survived a series of rigorous test drives in extreme environments throughout the United States of America. For instance, this midsize truck can tow maximum loads for several hours when the outdoor temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit. A frame with high-strength steel reinforcement gives this light-duty Ford model plenty of resilience against collisions and the weather elements. Up to six cross members bolster the robust frame of this versatile vehicle. Mounted on the frame, steel tow hooks are some other notable highlights on the menu. These components are integrated into the FX2 Package. Built for adventurous drivers, the Tremor Off-Road Package adds a handful of exclusive features to the 2021 Ranger. For example, this bundle comes with six up fitter switches and running boards with hoop-style configurations. With a boost from Trail Control, this midsize Ford truck can handle steep slopes with remarkable stability. The Hill Descent Control is part of the Trail Control. A single-mode in the Terrain Management System optimizes traction on grass, gravel, or snow. Another mode from the TMS is fine-tuned for mud, ruts, or sand. When fitted with the Multi-Terrain Select, the 2021 Tacoma also conquers off-road trails with ease.

Technology Features

Technology Features

Manufactured by Bang & Olufsen, ten speakers are optional for the 2021 Ford Ranger. This 660-watt audio system blasts music from SiriusXM Satellite Radio. You only get a maximum of eight speakers inside the 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Both light-duty pickup trucks offer a handful of smartphone-friendly features, including Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Bluetooth. However, the SYNC 3 multimedia system with the FordPass Connect is more advanced than the Tacoma’s Dynamic Navigation. Both vehicles are available with 4G LTE Wi-Fi modems for reliable connectivity in urban and rural locations.
