The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport offers buyers an alternative to the practical five-seat SUV. It’s quite passenger-friendly but still promises excellent performance, especially on the off-roads. The 2021 Ford Explorer is more suited to those who need a three-row SUV with plenty of horsepowers.

Performance Features

Performance And All-Terrain Capability

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is a mid-size SUV based on the Escape model. It can be purchased with either a turbocharged 1.5L three-cylinder engine with a 181-horsepower output or a more powerful turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder rated at 245 horsepower. All trims come with all-wheel drive, and transmission is eight-speed automatic. Both engines provide a surprising amount of punch. The vehicle is nicely weighted for maximum handling over uncertain terrain. Unlike most smaller SUVs, the Bronco Sport comes standard with multiple traction modes. Acceleration is good, and cruising at freeway speeds is effortless. Both engines promise excellent highway fuel efficiency.

The 2021 Ford Explorer is bigger and heavier, and it seats either six or seven depending on the choice of seating configuration. The Base, XLT, and Limited trims are fitted with a turbocharged 2.3L engine that produces a total of 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The ST and Platinum trim have a turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine rated at 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all trims come with a 10-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is optional on all but the Platinum trim, which gets it as standard. The Explorer has rapid acceleration, and the transmission is quite smooth-shifting. The vehicle sits high off the ground, and it can tackle the off-road with ease.

Innovative Cargo Solutions

Most consumers aren’t all concerned about cargo storage on a smaller crossover or SUV unless they plan on hauling around bikes, camping equipment, or suitcases. The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is designed for family use and tackling the back trails and sandy beaches. It’s, therefore, good news for the buyer that this model has exceptional storage capability. With the rear seats folded, the Bronco can accommodate bikes in their upright position, and the independently lifting rear window means that longer items can be stored with ease. The cabin is full of pockets and cubbies, and the forward air vents are located left and right of the screen display, allowing for a cargo tray underneath.

The 2021 Ford Explorer has a generous cargo hold, and when the third-row seats are in their upright position, there’s still enough room to pack in suitcases, boxes, or coolers. Child seats can be positioned with ease in the second-row seating area. A trailer-tow package is available, and when properly equipped, the Explorer can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Safety Features

Safety Features

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport offers more standard safety systems than most competitors in this vehicle class. Stability and traction control, daytime running lights, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, a rearview camera, and a post-collision safety system are standard. Airbags include dual front side-mounted and front and rear head airbags. The rear doors have child safety locks, and the child seat anchors and tethers are easily operated.

The 2021 Ford Explorer also gets a full complement of airbags as well as a rearview camera and child seat anchors and tethers. Each trim comes with frontal collision mitigation, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and trailer sway control.
