The 2020 Ford Fusion faces stiff competition from the 2020 Toyota Camry in the midsize sedan segment of North America. Both cars offer efficient hybrid systems, and the Fusion is also available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The SYNC 3 multimedia system in this Ford model also offers better digital technologies than the Camry’s Audio Plus console.
2020 Ford Fusion

Horsepower, 2.5L i-VCT V-6 Engine
2020 Toyota Camry

Horsepower, 2.5-Liter 4-Cylinder Engine
Built on the legendary EcoBoost platform, the 2020 Fusion’s 2.0 L I-4 engine block generates 245 horsepower. Taking commands from the Ti-VCT system, this turbocharged powertrain cranks out 275 pound-feet of torque. You won’t get more than 206 hp and 186 lb-ft from the 2020 Camry’s 2.5 L engine I-4 engine, which claims the Dynamic Force nameplate. Even when equipped with a 3.5 L V6 engine, this Toyota sedan doesn’t beat the Fusion in peak torque output. You can also get the 1.5 L EcoBoost engine for this versatile Ford sedan. Rated at 181 hp and 185 lb-ft, this compact propulsion system operates on the Ti-VCT cycle. Governed by the innovative i-VCT technology, the 2020 Fusion’s 2.5 L engine uses natural aspiration instead of forced induction. You’ll get up to 175 hp and 175 lb-ft from this efficient four-cylinder powertrain.
Engineered based on the conventional Atkinson cycle, a 2.0 L gasoline engine is integrated into the 2020 Fusion’s hybrid models. Rated at 88 kW, an electric motor generates on-demand output for light-duty driving. A 1.4-kWh battery pack with Lithium-ion technology is also installed in the hybrid system. Similarly, the 2020 Toyota Camry hybrid trims come with a sealed Lithium-ion battery. These efficient models include the Synergy Drive technology for optimum efficiency. If you want even more power from the 2020 Fusion, choose a plug-in hybrid powertrain. You’ll get the Li-ion battery that produces up to 7.6 kWh at threshold levels. When operating only on electricity, the plug-in hybrid model offers a driving range of 26 miles. It takes 2.5 hours to fully recharge the car’s battery pack through a 240-volt source. You can also attain a maximum cruising speed of 85 MPH when the Electric Mode is on. Unfortunately, a plug-in hybrid system isn’t available for the 2020 Camry.
Integrated into the 2020 Fusion’s SYNC 3 infotainment console, the FordPass Connect delivers best-in-class Wi-Fi connectivity. Up to 10 compatible devices can connect to 4G LTE networks at the same time inside this Ford sedan. Additionally, the FordPass Connect has an effective signal range of 50 feet. The 2020 Toyota Camry’s Wi-Fi Connect only supports up to five simultaneous connections inside the cabin. Available through the Ford Fusion’s AppLink portal, Ford+Alexa delivers a new level of concierge services. You can access the Toyota+Alexa application in the Camry. However, this Toyota sedan doesn’t offer Waze, which is readily available in the SYNC 3 platform. Coming with five-year complimentary subscriptions, SiriusXM Travel Link and Traffic provide extra guidance in this premium Ford sedan.
