Performance Features

Ford’s engineers decided to use the reliable EcoBoost mechanical platform for the 2020 Fusion. Paired with the Ti-VCT technology, the 1.5 L turbocharged engine produces up to 181 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. Coming from the established ECOTEC series, the 2020 Malibu’s 1.5 L turbo engine can’t produce more than 160 hp and 184 lb-ft. Also carrying the ECOTEC label, the 2.0 L turbo engine yields up to 250 hp and 260 lb-ft. Optional in the 2020 Fusion, the 2.0 L EcoBoost turbo powertrain spits out 245 hp and 275 lb-ft. Both mid-size sedans have automatic systems that shut off and restart the engine in response to temporary stops on the road. When fitted with the Intelligent AWD, the 2020 Fusion offers best-in-class traction on paved roads. Unfortunately, you can install any type of AWD system on the 2020 Chevy Malibu.

Efficiency

Efficiency

The 2020 Fusion is available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that’s easy to charge and manage. Operating on the Atkinson cycle, a 2.0 L gas engine is part of the propulsion system. Thanks to the SmartGauge, you’ll receive real-time feedback on the performance of the car. You’ll also appreciate the fuel-saving lessons from the EcoGuide, which is a virtual driving coach. When running on only electrical power, this mid-size Ford sedan offers a driving range of up to 26 miles. The EV Mode is easily engaged with the push of a button. You may also use the EV Later Mode to conserve electrical power for an upcoming trip. If you fill the car’s tank with unleaded gasoline, you’ll enjoy a total driving range of 610 miles. Malibuing to EPA standards, the Fusion plug-in hybrid boasts a fuel economy of 43 MPG in the city when using electricity and fuel. This efficient Ford model also offers the all-new EcoCruise and EcoSelect functions for smooth driving on highways and in cities. Both settings optimize the gear settings of the eCVT system.

Digital Technology

Digital Technology

The standard MyKey gives you personalized control of the 2020 Fusion. For example, this electronic key lets you set a speed limit and personalize other alerts based on the speedometer. This advanced key can also control the volume level inside the cabin. Speaking of audio, this mid-size Ford sedan offers a 12-speaker sound system from Sony. Made by Bose, the 2020 Malibu’s best audio system only has nine total speakers. Both sedans offer lots of mobile-optimized connections, including Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and WiFi. The FordPass Connect technology comes with more advanced applications than the myChevrolet portal.
