Performance Features

A plug-in hybrid powertrain with the iVCT technology is available in the 2020 Escape. When connected to a 240-volt outlet, this powertrain fully recharges in approximately 3.5 hours. The net output of the Atkinson Cycle propulsion system is 221 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. When integrated into the regular hybrid powertrain, the Atkinson Cycle engine yields up to 200 hp and 155 lb-ft. The 2020 RAV4’s hybrid system has a peak rating of 219 hp. However, the regular Dynamic Force engine block can’t produce more than 203 hp. This I-4 gas powertrain stands no chance against the 2020 Escape’s 2.0 L EcoBoost engine. Driven by a turbocharger, the EcoBoost propulsion system whips out 250 hp and 280 lb-ft. If you select the smaller 1.5 L I-3 EcoBoost engine, you’ll tap into 181 hp and 190 lb-ft. The maximum towing capacity of the 2.0 L powertrain is 3,500 pounds. In dramatic contrast, the RAV4 isn’t strong enough to tow more than 1,750 pounds.

The Intelligent Access Key lets you open the 2020 Escape’s tailgate without fumbling for keys. Need more space for cargo? Just add items to the roof rack side rails, which are painted in black. This Ford crossover SUV has LED fog lamps and LED signature lighting for good visibility at night. You’ll also find lots of exclusive amenities inside the cabin, such as the 12.3-inch digital instrument display, which is illuminated by a blue light. Travel and entertainment services are available in the Escape’s SYNC 3 multimedia system. You can take advantage of the FordPass Connect when you’re on the go. This mobile application includes 4G WiFi and various remote services. The 2020 Toyota RAV4’s Audio Plus multimedia system doesn’t offer as many connectivity features. Both crossover SUVs support Amazon Alexa, Siri Eyes Free and Google Assistant. Manufactured by Bang & Olufsen, the Escape’s sound system produces richer acoustics than the RAV4’s JBL audio system.

Safety Features

Safety Features

The 2020 Escape’s Pre-Collision Assist might save you from an accident on the road. When you’re in danger of hitting another car or pedestrian, the Automatic Emergency Braking will attempt to prevent an accident. Similarly, the 2020 RAV4’s Pre-Collision technology might help the driver avoid a crash. This Toyota model includes the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which is comparable to the Escape’s Adaptive Cruise Control. However, the Ford’s Evasive Steering Assist isn’t matched by anything in the Toyota model. Additionally, the Co-Pilot 360 suite controls the Active Park Assist 2.0 technology.
