Utility

Optional for the 2021 Ford Super Duty, the Pro Trailer Backup Assist helps you command a trailer with more precision and confidence. With additional feedback from the Trailer Reverse Guidance, you could turn, park, back up and execute other challenging towing maneuvers. You could also mount a custom camera on the back of your trailer for better views of the surroundings. This heavy-duty Ford truck is available with a camera that’s set up on the center high-mount stop lamp for detailed overhead views of a trailer or the bed. You just will not get as many towing utilities from the 2021 Ram 2500. However, this model has the RamBox Cargo Management System with storage boxes that can be locked and drained. Generating up to 400 watts, an electrical outlet is concealed inside one of the signature storage boxes. Conveniently integrated into the overhead console in the Super Duty’s front row, six up fitter switches provide extra utility for controlling aftermarket accessories. Additionally, this acclaimed Ford truck boasts a tailgate with power locking and remote release functions.

A midsize SUV with seven seats, the 2021 Ford Explorer is sold in five models. Spacious enough for eight people, the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse SUV offers seven trim levels. Both of these three-row vehicles have generous interior space and a tri-zone heating and air conditioning system.

Whipping out 300 horsepower, a turbocharged 2.3 L engine propels the 2021 Ford Explorer. Augmented by the Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing, the EcoBoost powertrain unleashes 310 pound-feet of torque. Twin turbochargers are incorporated into the 3.0 L V6 engine, which also flaunts the EcoBoost design. The Platinum model receives 365 hp and 380 lb-ft from this six-cylinder powerplant. The ST trim extracts 400 hp and 415 lb-ft from the twin-turbo propulsion system. When paired with the Intelligent 4WD, the V6 engine can tow up to 5,600 pounds.

Powered by a 3.6 L V6 engine, the 2021 Chevy Traverse can’t haul a trailer loaded with more than 5,000 pounds. In fact, the Explorer’s hybrid 3.3 L powertrain matches this towing rating. The Chevy’s normally aspirated SIDI powertrain peaks at 310 hp and 266 lb-ft. A nine-speed automatic gearbox is mated to this six-cylinder engine that’s installed across the entire Traverse lineup. You can tap into ten gear ratios from the 2021 Explorer’s automatic transmission.

Interior Features

Interior Amenities

As three-row SUVs, the 2021 Ford Explorer and Chevy Traverse offer climate control systems with three zones and rear air vents. Employing the Active Motion technology, the front seats inside the Ford model offer an unrivaled level of ergonomics on the road. You can even enjoy a back massage from these all-new seats, which are covered in genuine leather. In dramatic contrast, the driver’s seat inside the 2021 Chevy model only has an eight-way power design. However, this Chevy offers heating and ventilation options for its front-row seating. Heated bucket seats are available for the 2021 Explorer’s middle row. The Power-Assist Fold technology provides good leverage for moving the captain’s chairs. Passengers will also have easier access to the second and third rows because of the E-Z Entry design. The 2021 Traverse simply doesn’t offer as many innovative seating options in its cabin. However, this Chevrolet SUV has a hidden storage compartment on the cargo floor. The Ford SUV has plenty of other convenient features for families, from dome lights and cargo hooks to power door locks and grab handles.

Technology Features

Ford adds several cutting-edge visual technologies to the 2021 Explorer’s cabin, like a 12.3-inch digital cluster. Floating above the dashboard, the SYNC infotainment includes a 10.1-inch LCD monitor shaped like a tablet. You could tap the touch screen to manage the FordPass Connect application and other digital services. The 2021 Traverse’s infotainment monitor only measures up to 8.0 inches. Both midsize SUVs offer smartphone-friendly technologies, including Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth. A dozen speakers with the Bang & Olufsen label entertain up to seven people inside the Ford model. Manufactured by Bose, the Chevy model’s best audio system comes with ten speakers.
