Jacky Jones Ford & Ford Racing Bring Cobra Jet Showdown to NMRA Season Opener

The NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals is proud to announce that Jacky Jones Ford & Ford Racing will sponsor a special Cobra Jet Showdown that will run at the Nitto Tire NMRA Spring Break Shootout event at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, FL, the weekend of March 1-4, 2012.  Watch as Cobra Jets from all around the U.S. converge on Bradenton Motorsports Park and set their combinations on kill for the prestigious title of Cobra Jet Showdown Champion!  Jacky Jones Ford, the leading Cobra Jet dealer in the southeast and presenting sponsor of the Showdown, will be at the event with customer cars and a great display on NMRA's huge manufacturers midway.

The class will qualify on Friday, and run on a Sportsman ladder with a .500 full tree for Saturday eliminations.  The class will feature a $2,500 purse and the overall winner of the Showdown will receive $1,000, a custom jacket & award, and great exposure in national magazines like 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords, Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, and NMRA's own Race Pages.

2012 Cobra Jet Showdown Rules & Purses ? NMRA Florida Event

Cobra Jet Showdown Purse:

    Winner:  $1,000 + Award + Custom Jacket

    Runner-Up:  $500 + Plaque

    Semis:  $200

    Quarters:  $100

Competition Format: The class will be heads up with a staggered start based on the vehicle's NHRA natural class index. This is commonly referred to as a (CIC) Competition Index Class.  Vehicles CIC Index will carry through all rounds of competition. Adjusting index is prohibited during eliminations. Qualifying will be determined by ET under index and will be run on a NHRA sportsman ladder.

Class Rules:

Class is designed for all Cobra Jet's to compete.   Where applicable comparably equipped Cobra Jet's will be heads up runs. -For all 5.4L engines with the 2.3L supercharger minimum weight is 3250 lbs. WITH driver.  In Stock trim they will run on a 10.30et index .   In Super Stock trim natural class will be determined by NHRA horsepower factor at the time of the event and 3250lbs minimum weight. -For all 5.4L engines with the 4.0L supercharger minimum weight is 3250 lbs. WITH driver. This combination is only legal in Super Stock trim and will run on a 9.40et index. -All other Cobra Jet engine combinations must run in their current natural class and that class index as determined by their NHRA horsepower factor at the time of the event and the minimum weights as outlined below.  There is no added weight for driver, total vehicle weight minimum WITH driver is the curb weight in lbs.as listed in the NHRA Stock Car Classification:

Tech: All combinations must pass Super Stock and Stock NHRA tech with the following exceptions ? any tire allowed, passenger and rear seat removal allowed.   Participants are subject to tech inspection in accordance with NMRA rules. Do not enter your Cobra Jet for competition if you are not prepared to prove the legality and compliance of your vehicle.  See NMRA General Regulations and NHRA rulebook for full details.

Class Safety Requirements: It is the participant's responsibility to familiarize oneself with the requirements as found in the 2012 NMRA and 2012 NHRA rulebook. The participant agrees that the participant bears the ultimate responsibility at all times to ensure the safety of the participant's vehicle and to ensure that participant complies with all applicable NHRA and NMRA rules.  The participant agrees that participant is in the best position to know about the construction and operation of the participant's vehicle, equipment, and clothing, and whether there has been compliance with all applicable NHRA and NMRA rules.
